The Introduction Workshop (Beginners)

Equipment Needed

You must wear suitable footwear and clothing as this is an outdoor sport (consider the weather). Wearing of gloves, if your dog pulls hard on the line to prevent line burn. You will need a harness for your dog and a long line (5-10meters) If you are in need of a long line I have spares just let me know. No Flexi leads or none pull harnesses. Ensure the harness fits well on the dog and doesn’t restrain the dog’s movement. Bring 4 scent articles- fabric, i.e a scarf, cap, glove, sock, bandanna etc sealed in a plastic bag. You will need to bring, a small bag of treats, 6 small plastic pots with lids which will fit into your pocket but are big enough for your dog to be able to lick out of the container (tesco, morrisons,  pound land all have very cheap ones) . These pots are to be pre filled with a high valued treat, wet foods such as squeezy cheese, yogurt, cat food, tinned fish or paste, but no kibble. These treats are great for licking as it raises endorphins and enhances the reward. If your dog is not treat orientated then please bring your dogs favorite toy, Ball on string, tuggy, whatever excites your dog.

Please note :This  session will take approximately 2.5-3 hours and it is your responsibility to ensure your dog is safe, warm and has access to water at all times that you are with us. All dog teams are worked one at a time so your dog will need to spend some time in your vehicle

Progression sessions will require the same equipment.
